Mom labeled a Monster, after helping her son get laser treatments

Every day there are stories on the internet about people modifying their appearance for one reason or the other. Most times its always cosmetic surgeries and people often rush to the comment section, judging and criticizing others because of their decision.

Brooke is an Australian mother who decided to let her second son Kingsley under surgery and it wasn’t even cosmetic surgery. She went under fire for making such decision for her son and people were quick enough to call her a monster.

Kingsley was born with port-wine stain birthmarks and it spread to some parts of his eyes the situation can lead to Sturge-Weber syndrome or glaucoma.

Brooke was ready to do anything to keep her son safe and the little boy had to undergo laser surgery.

Brooke wrote on Instagram back in February, “After having to watch my son have a speculum placed in his eyes, it was determined that his pressures were quite high and that it looked like glaucoma had kicked in.”

“They gave me eye drops to relieve the pressure and told me to take photos every couple of days, to see if the eye was getting bigger or not. He was booked in for a week later to see if it had got worse and if so, to schedule an operation under general anesthetic. Due to Covid, I attended this appointment by myself and although I held it together, by the time I went into the toilets at the end, I completely broke down. Reality had hit – my child could go blind in one eye.”

The usual therapy to remove these stains is Laser Treatment and Kingsley’s parents were ready to give him the best life, so he was scheduled for the procedure.

Atkins explained, as reported by the NY Post, “When he was first born, we were referred to the Queensland Children’s Hospital dermatology and vascular department, where they organize the first treatment and explain in further detail why laser would be important. The purpose of the laser treatments is not to ‘remove’ the birthmark but instead keep the skin healthy, to prevent any further damage to the area.”

After the procedure, Brooke decided to post a picture of her son on social media but seems like they weren’t happy with what she did.

“Don’t think I could laser my baby,” one user wrote, as quoted by Daily Mail.

“That birthmark is barely visible, what you’re doing to him is horrible, it’s more for you than him,” another said.

They were positive comments, and they all praised Brooke for looking out for her child and taking the best decision ever.
